MEPs call for EU-wide child alert system

Local LibDem Euro-MP Liz Lynne has welcomed the European Parliament's call for an EU-wide child alert system, similar to the 'Amber Alert' system in the United States.

The Indian authorities must thoroughly investigate alleged Kashmiri mass grave sites uncovered in a recent report, MEPs have said in a strongly worded resolution adopted today.

The full cost of a plane ticket will become much clearer before booking over the next few months, thanks to laws adopted by the European Parliament today. This will finally put an end to tickets being advertised for one or two pounds, only for customers to be charged a much higher figure when they actually buy the flight.

Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne has welcomed a report released today by Oxfam and the campaign group Kalayaan which sheds light on the extent of abuse of migrant domestic workers in the UK and highlights the importance of the currently under threat domestic worker visa ,which gives migrant domestic workers the same basic rights as other workers.

The European Commission today unveiled healthcare proposals that could give UK patients new rights to seek medical treatment elsewhere in the EU. The EU proposal follows a 2006 European Court of Justice ruling that the NHS could not refuse to refund costs of overseas treatment if patients waited longer than clinicians advised, even if waiting list targets were met.
