West Midlands Euro-MP Liz Lynne has reacted with concern to speculation that the EU Commission plans to label all goods "Made in the EU".

Speaking today the Liberal Democrat MEP said:

"I would be concerned if the speculation that a 'Made in EU' label is to replace a National or Regional label proves correct. For many products national or regional identity is always going to be crucial in selling that product."

"At present the stories seem to be mainly based on a leaked report but I will remain vigilant to any such proposals. It is possible that a dual-labelling system could be introduced which would keep the local identity as well as promoting a mark of distinction for the EU."
