Government smoking plans drawn up on back of a fag packet - Lynne3.17.36pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 26th Oct 2005 Commenting on the Government's confusion over the introduction of a smoking ban, Liberal Democrat Euro-MP for the West Midlands, Liz Lynne said: "The Government's proposals on smoking in public places are hopelessly confused. It looks like the Government's plans are being drawn up on the back of a fag packet. "The results of the three month public consultation is being ignored. The voice of the people is being drowned out by the sound of Cabinet Ministers arguing. "What is really being compromised here is the health of people who work in smoky environments. Every concession reduces the life expectancy of people working in bars and clubs." ENDS.
