At the European Election in West Midlands on 10th June 2004, 1437035 votes were cast (approximately 36% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Labour: 336613 votes (-4.6%); 2 seats.

UK Independence Party: 251366 votes (+11.6%); 1 seat (+1).

Liberal Democrat: 197479 votes (+2.5%); 1 seat.

British National Party: 107794 votes (+5.8%).

Green Party: 73991 votes (-0.7%).

Respect - The Unity Coalition: 34703 votes (+2.4%).

Pensioners' Party: 33501 votes (+2.3%).
